Aftercare is a progressing discussion in the progress of body piercing. Piercing Aftercare necessities may vary from one region to another and all products may not be broadly available, it is important to discuss some of the specific requirements with your body piercer. If you decide on healing piercing using soap you should consider the use of gentle soap that is free from harsh chemicals, perfumes and dyes.  

Before deciding to do the piercings on your body, there are things you should be aware as it may result to infections or inflammation. Below are some of the piercing aftercare guidelines that will help you in addition to the ones your piercer provided. 

Keep your ear piercing as clean as possible! 

Soak your ear piercing with salt solution twice in a day for a period of 5 minutes per session and mist it with quality saline spray 3 to 5 times a day. Incase there is a problem with the piercing then use an antiseptic piercing spray. The piercing should not be soaped up directly but while showering and sudsy water washes over the ear piercing there should be nothing to worry about. 

Avoid touching your piercing  

Touching your piercings may be an easy way of contracting infections, however to avoid any risks, the pierced areas should only be touched during cleaning but with cleaned hands. 

Belly button 

For the belly button care a hard, emitted eye patch may be secured by use of length of a flexible dressing around the body to control adhesive irritation or applied under tight wear like nylon stockings. Doing this will protect the area from excess irritation, restrictive clothing, and effect during physical activities that include contact sports. 

Maintain general cleaning  

Beddings should be washed and changed on a regular basis, ensure you are wearing clean, breathable and comfortable clothes that protects your piercing while sleeping. 

You should wash your hands before touching the piercing part in your body, it should be left alone except during cleaning. It is not compulsory also to rotate your jewelry during healing process. 

What you should know 

In the healing process some bruising, secretion of a whitish-yellow fluid which will form crust on the jewelry but not pus and itching may occur. This is normal as the tissue around the jewelry is tightening as it heals.
